My name is Gunnhildur Sigurhansdóttir and I am the designer behind Vinda knits. I am 42 year old Icelander living in Reykjavik with my husband, three teenagers and Flóki the dog. I started knitting back in 1988 when I was around 7 yers old. I knitted my first Icelandic lopapeysa when I was 12 years old and since then I have knitted countless things, mostly sweaters. 

I published my first pattern on Ravelry in 2022. When writing my patterns I try to be thorough so most knitters can understand the instructions. I believe my background in teaching helps with that. I also have a degree in history and gender studies and I love combining knitting and history. 

When creating my knitting patterns, I place a strong emphasis on simplicity and clarity in the instructions. I also strive to explain the purpose behind each step. As a teacher, I have experience writing project instructions and understand how easy it is to misinterpret them.
